Introduction
:
Bangladesh is an agriculture country. Rice is its main crop. We get it from
paddy. It is the staple food for the people of Bangladesh. People of many other
countries of the world live on rice. More than one-third people of the world
depend on rice.
Where
grown : Rice grows in hot and moist climate. It grows
well in Bangladesh, India, China, Pakistan, Thailand and Myanmar (Burma).
Kinds
:
There are different kinds of rice. They are Aman, Aush, Boro and Irri. Aush and
Aman are the main kinds of rich. Nowadays growing Irri rice is very profitable
and most of the farmers of our country like to grow IRRI. The rice of Barisal,
Rajshahi and Dinajpur is very fine. It grows better and in plenty in our
country.
How
grown : At first our farmers plough the land well. Then they
sow seeds. The plants grow very quickly. Within three or four months the paddy
ripens. Then our farmers cut them. After reaping the paddy it is brought home.
It is then threshed and separated from the hay. It is dried in the sun. We get
rice when the dried paddy is husked.
Usefulness
:
We make various foods like, Chira, Muri, Khai etc. from rice. We also make
different types of cakes from it. These are the favourite foods to the
children.
Conclusion
: Rice
is our main food. But the production of rice in our country is not sufficient
to meet our demand. So, we should grow more rice. We should try our level best
to increase the production of it.
